Residence Permit Types in Georgia

An ordinary work application is based on eligible employment or entrepreneurial activity and the required financial and enterprise evidence. The separate labour-migration position must also be checked. The current work-permission law contains exceptions, so the actual role and contracts matter.

Property and investment residence

The short-term property category requires qualifying non-agricultural real estate assessed above USD 150,000 equivalent in GEL. A separate investment category uses an investment of at least USD 300,000 or qualifying property valued above USD 300,000, with its own evidence and continuing requirements.

Family applications

Family reunification with a foreign resident, the family provisions of property or investment residence, and an application as the spouse of a Georgian citizen are distinct. We check the sponsor’s status, eligible relatives, relationship records and financial evidence.

The current rules provide a specific temporary category for a Georgian citizen’s spouse before permanent residence. Qualifying minor children of Georgian citizens and parents of minor Georgian citizens have separate permanent-residence provisions.

Study residence

The current study category is for adults following an eligible higher or vocational programme at an authorised Georgian institution. The application needs the appropriate institutional certificate and financial evidence. We check the institution, programme and your current status before preparing the file.

IT residence

Specified technology employees, qualifying small-business individual entrepreneurs and qualifying international-company representatives may be eligible for IT residence. Permanent and indefinite residence

The general long-residence provision uses the last ten years on temporary residence, excluding the periods specified by law. Family-based eligibility and qualifying five-year investment arrangements are separate provisions. We check the history and the exact application before recommending the next step.
